ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR ADMISSION TO POST GRADUATE COURSE IN DENTAL SURGERY (M.D.S), KERALA – 2009

1. Applications are invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to M.D.S Courses for the year 2009 in the Government Dental Colleges, at Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.
2. Eligibility for Admission:

(i)
Nativity: Applicant should be an Indian citizen of Kerala origin.
(ii)
Academic Qualifications: B.D.S Degree from any University in Kerala or of any other University, recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto. Applicants who will complete one year Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship on or before 30.04.2009 are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination, subject to the condition that the admission will be given only after registering with the Kerala Dental Council.

(iii) Age: For General Candidates, maximum 45 years and for Service candidates, maximum 47 years as on 30.04.2009.

1. Entrance Examination: All candidates seeking admission to MDS courses will have to qualify by securing a minimum of 50% marks in the Entrance Examination, to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) (40% marks for SC/ST/SEBC candidates). The Entrance Examination will be conducted on 25.01.2009 (Sunday), at Thiruvananthapuram. The Entrance Examination consists of one Paper, of three hours duration and having 200 Objective Type (Multiple Choice) Questions.

1. Application Forms: Prospectus and Application form will be available from 15.12.2008 in the website www.cee-kerala.org. The application form is common for General and Service candidates. Candidates seeking admission to this course can apply in the prescribed format, after downloading it, from the website, along with the necessary documents and a Demand Draft [Rs. 1,000/-for General candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST candidates] drawn on a nationalized bank, in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Service candidates, applying under General merit also, need submit only a single application form to the CEE.

2. Application forms will not be sold from the office of the CEE or office of the DME. Application fee once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Last Date and Time for receipt of filled–in Application Forms: All candidates seeking admission, including those service candidates who seek admission under General/Service Quota, should forward their completed applications with all the relevant documents and Demand Draft to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695001, either by Registered post / Speed post / hand delivery so as to reach him before 5 pm on 09.01.2009 (Friday).

However Service candidates should forward a copy of the application form along with copies of all required documents (duly attested), as stipulated in clause VIII(a)iv of the Prospectus, to the Controlling Officer concerned (Director of Medical Education / Director of Health Services) before 5 pm, on 09.01.2009.

1. Late, defective and incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. No correspondence will be undertaken in this regard. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay.

2. Candidates will neither be allowed to include any information in the application form nor to submit any certificates/ documents claiming reservation or any other benefits, after the submission of the application, under any circumstances.

3. Candidates must note that, they have to obtain the required certificates in the body of the application form itself, wherever specified. The certificates that are attached separately along with the application form will not be considered under any circumstances.

4. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will conduct the Entrance Examination, prepare and publish the rank list of candidates who qualify in the Entrance Examination and forward the list to the Director of Medical Education (DME). The CEE will also prepare a separate list of qualified Service candidates who qualify in the Entrance Examination and forward the same to the DME.

5. The selection, admission and allotment of seats, including those under Service Quota, will be made by the DME, based on various provisions laid down in the Prospectus for admission to M.D.S - 2009 approved by the Government of Kerala. Candidates may go through the various provisions of the Prospectus available in the website at www.cee-kerala.org, before filling up the application forms.
