The Application Kit (i.e., prescribed printed application form along with Information Brochure and a printed window envelope) will be available from different Branches of United Bank of India (as specified below) on payment of Rs.500/- (for E / M type Form) and Rs.600/-for C type Form in cash .

Sale of Application form :
The Application Kit will be available from 18.11.2009 to 31.12.2009 at the following Branches of UNITED BANK OF INDIA :
Old Court House St., College St, Sealdah, Hatibagan, Jadavpur, Behala, Mayukh Bhawan – Salt Lake, BESU Shibpur, Sonarpur, Asansol, Durgapur City Centre, Burdwan (B.C.Rd.), Katwa (Station Rd.), Serampore, Chinsurah, Arambag, Kalyani, Krishnagar, Barasat, Diamond Harbour, Kolaghat, Haldia, Kharagpur, Suri, Bolpur, Bankura, Purulia, Berhampur, Raghunathgunj, Raiganj, Balurghat, Malda, Siliguri, Alipurduar, Darjeeling (25, H.D. Lama Rd.), Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Agartala (Tripura) on all working days between banking hours on payment of requisite fee.

The Application Kit may also be obtained by Post from the Board’s Office on application with an additional fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred) only.
The total amount (i.e., cost of application form plus Rs.100/-) has to be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD” payable at Howrah/Kolkata.
The last date for request for application-kit by post is 08.12.2009 and the last date for receipt of completed application form by Speed Post only is 12.01.2010. Request for application form received beyond the stipulated date as mentioned above will not be entertained and the Board shall not be held responsible in any manner whatsoever for such non-receipt arising out of postal delay. The Application Kit may also be obtained from the Board’s Office only with payment of actual cost of the form plus late fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred) only.

The whole amount is to be paid through a Bank Draft to be drawn in favour of “West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board” payable at Kolkata / Howrah from 01.01.2010 to 07.01.2010. The application form once purchased cannot be returned or replaced.

How to Apply :
The duly filled in application form must be sent in the printed window envelope received by the candidate within the Application Kit by SPEED POST only so as to reach the office of the Board by 12.01.2010. Submission of Application Form by hand or courier service will not be accepted.

The applicant must be a citizen of India and should have passed the H.S.(10+2) or its equivalent examination. The general candidates must have to secure at least 50.00% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology taken together (40.00% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30.00% marks in English (for all categories). In addition, candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as mentioned below: B.E/B.Tech./B.Arch :Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

M.B.B.S/B.D.S. :
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject. PHARMACY: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

For MBBS and BDS courses :
In addition to the aforesaid eligibility criteria, the general candidates must have to secure at least 50.00% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together (40.00% for SC/ST) in the Joint Entrance Examination, W.B.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2010 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2010 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed, will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

Age Restriction :
Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2010. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31.07.2010. Residential Requirements: Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Government Engineering / Technology Colleges, Govt. Medical and Dental Colleges as well as to Private Medical and Dental Colleges, must have been residing in the State of West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2009 or their parents must be permanent resident of West Bengal having their permanent home address in the State of West Bengal.

From the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request through Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) of Rs. 1200/- (Rs. 800/- for SC/ST candidates) of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi. Application form will be sent by Speed / Registered Post. However, Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. The request for application form must include the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC (write candidate’s name and address on the back of DD). Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm × 6 cm size MUST also accompany it. The ENVELOP containing requisition for PMT application form should be super scribed “Request for Application for PMT-2010, BHU”. Last date of requisition for PMT form by post is Friday, the 19th February 2010. Incomplete/non-cashable Draft (under amount/unsigned/ without Bank Code No. & Seal) shall not be accepted. NOTE: (a) Separate Bank Draft will be required for each application form. (b) M.O./I.P.O./Cheques shall NOT be accepted under any circumstances. Application Forms from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, can be obtained by POST only and not in person. In case forms are not available at Bank of Baroda Branches, the same can be obtained by post from Director’s Office upto 19th February, 2010.

Application form duly completed must be sent through Registered Post so as to reach THE DIRECTOR (PMT CELL), INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, VARANASI-221 005 latest by TUESDAY, the 9th March 2010 till 5.00 PM. Application forms received after the last date shall not be accepted. Foreign Nationals are not required to appear in the PMT examination for MBBS/BAMS course. They may seek admission through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose and their nomination must reach by Thursday, the 15th July 2010.

The Banaras Hindu University will hold All India COMPETITIVE WRITTEN TEST for admission to MBBS course (84 seats) in TWO stages:

  1. PMT-2010 SCREENING and
  2. PMT-2010 MAIN,
and for BDS (38 seats), BAMS (78 seats) and B. Pharm. (33 seats) courses in ONE stage: PMT-2010 Screening.

PMT-2010 SCREENING shall be held on Wednesday, the 12th May 2010 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres, to screen candidates for eligibility to appear in PMT-2010 MAIN examination for MBBS course which will be held on Sunday, the 13th June 2010 at Varanasi Centre only. For BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm. courses, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT-2010 SCREENING only.

ELIGIBILITY :

QUALIFICATIONS
- Passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together;
(i) For MBBS/BDS/BAMS – a minimum of 50% for General, OBC and respective PC candidates and 40% aggregate marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates;
(ii) For B.Pharm. – a minimum of 60% marks for General, OBC and respective PC candidates and 55% aggregate marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.

MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

IGNOU invites application for the following Degree/ Diploma Programme in Management:

Master of Business Administration (MBA), or
Diploma in Management (DIM), or
Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDIM), or
Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM), or
Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM), or
Post-Graduate Diploma in Operations Management (PGDOM), or
Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management (PGDMM).

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MBA Programme consists of 21 courses in all. These comprise of :

l All the courses in PGDIM (Eleven Courses) i.e. MS-1 to MS-11
l Five courses from any one of the specialisation streams
l Compulsory Courses (MS-91, MS-95) and one elective course (MS-92/93/94/96/97)
l Project Course (MS-100) equivalent to 2 courses.

All the above programmes have multi-media design, using technology aided delivery systems. These are offered through countrywide network of study centres. The University will be admitting the students for the above degree/diplomas in Management starting from July 2009 through an entrance test 'OPENMAT' to be held as per schedule given below.


ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

The following eligibility criteria has been approved by the Academic Council at its 46th meeting held on 13.01.2009 (AC 46.39.3).

i) Graduation in any discipline with 50% marks for General Category and 45% marks for reserved category;

OR

Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of supervisory/managerial/professional experience.

ii) Clearance of OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU. The candidates who have successfully cleared the entrance test for admission into Management Programme conducted by institutions like CAT, MAT and State level tests need not appear in OPENMAT.

FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
Foreign students residing in India are eligible to seek admission in IGNOU programmes who have valid student visa for the minimum duration of the programme. Such students are required to remit the fee at par with foreign students (fee structure of foreign students could be downloaded from the website www.ignou.ac.in). Admission of foreign students residing in India will be processed by the International Division of the University after ensuring their antecedents from the Ministry of External Affairs/Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Programmes with fixed number of seats are not opened for foreign students.
ADMISSION TO MBA (MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME) FROM DIM
AND PGSDM


Those who are Non-graduates and who have successfully completed DIM would be allowed to get admission
into Management Programme (MBA), without re-appearing in Entrance Test (OPENMAT), after completing
Bachelor’s degree, if they so desire. In such a case they should send the re-registration form alongwith the
marksheet and copy of the Bachelor’s Degree to the concerned Regional Director for getting admission to MBA, within the dates prescribed by the university for re-registration. Normally the dates are 1st February to 31st March and 1st August to 1st October for respective semesters.

The students qualifying any of PG Specialisation Diplomas, if desirous of pursuing MBA, may do so by registering for other courses. However those who have done PG Specialisation Diplomas under Direct Entry stream prior to 1997 will have to qualify OPENMAT test and apply for credit transfer by paying requisite fee on prescribed form to the Registrar (SR&E), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068 as per credit transfer rules.

ENTRANCE TEST (OPENMAT XXVI, OPENMAT XXVII and IGNOU OPENMAT XXVIII)

Admission to Managem ent Programmes of IGNOU is done through OPENMAT Entrance Examinations,
held twice a year.

For appearing in the entrance test (OPENMAT) a student has to fill up APPLICATION FORM FOR OPENMAT
ENTRANCE TEST– Form 1 which is provided separately in an envelope alongwith this STUDENT HANDBOOK
AND PROSPECTUS. Please see the instructions for filling up the ENTRANCE TEST Form at pages 133.

You need to send the form in the same envelope attached in the Prospectus by Registered/Speed Post so as to reach on or before the last date printed on the application form. No other document is required to be submitted alongwith this form. The Entrance Test will be held on the following dates:

OPENMAT XXVII Exam Date - 07.02.2010 (Sunday 10.00 A.M. — 1.00 P.M.)

A student can appear in anyone of the above OPENMAT Examinations. If a student wants to appear in more than one OPENMAT Examinations s/he is required to apply separately.

ADMISSION

Admission to the MBA, Diploma in Management, PGDIM and Post Graduate Diplomas in HRM, FM, OM, and MM, will be done on the basis of the score obtained in the OPENMAT, conducted all over India twice a year as per above schedule. (Clearance of OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU. The candidates who have successfully cleared the entrance test for admission into Management Programme conducted by institutions like CAT, MATand State level tests need not appear in OPENMAT).

A result card will be sent to all the candidates appearing in the OPENMAT examination. It will indicate whether the candidate has qualified or not qualified for admission on the basis of cut-off score as decided by the University.

For admission a learner will have to apply on the specified APPLICATION FORM – Form 2 which is given
in the Prospectus alongwith required documents to the Regional Director concerned. You are advised to retain a Photo Copy of the Application Form submitted to IGNOU. Admission will be offered to all those attaining the cut off score and above, subject to their fulfilling other eligibility criteria as mentioned in Appendix 1.

VALIDITY OF OPENMAT SCORE
Candidates who have qualified for admission on the basis of the score obtained in the Entrance Test (OPENMAT) will be eligible to take admission into Management Programme in any of the subsequent semesters. For example, a student who has qualified for admission in August 2009 test, may take admission in any of the following two semesters i.e. either in January 2010 or July 2010 semester, one who qualifies in February 2010 test may take admission in July 20010 or January 2011 semester and one who qualifies in August 2010 test may take admission in January 2011 or July 2011 semester. The last dates for submission of the Application Form for Admission to these semesters are as follows :
