Don Bosco Institute of Technology (DBIT) is a private, un-aided engineering college situated at Kurla (West), Mumbai. It has been granted a "Religious Minority" (Roman Catholics).


History

The engineering college was established in 2001 by The Bombay Salesian Society. Initially, engineering degree courses were offered in Information Technology, Computer Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunications. In the year 2006, Mechanical Engineering branch was added. The college is directly affiliated with the University of Mumbai.

In 2005, the college was ranked 84 in the list of Top technical colleges in India in a Dataquest-IDC-NASSCOM Survey.

Location

DBIT is located at Don Bosco, Kurla campus in front of the Premier Automobiles Factory (Fiat Company). The nearest railway station is Vidyavihar.

There is a direct bus service from Santa Cruz to Vidyavihar (322). The nearest bus junction is Kamani, which is networked through the BEST buses to Andheri, Kurla, Ghatkopar,Mulund and other places.

Campus

There is a huge football ground, basketball court and a tennis court. Both the courts are concretised. There are provisions for indoor games like carrom and table tennis. The campus has lush greenery throughout the year. Even the insides of the buildings are spruced up by placing potted plants. Recent changes have been to the landscape, by addition of a lawn at the upper echelons which double up as a playground and reception venue.

The classrooms are roomy and well ventilated. There is ample natural light pouring in courtesy of the large windows. The labs are modern and well equipped. Elements of contemporary design can be seen everywhere. There is a chapel on the ground floor.

In the year 2006, the new wing of the engineering department was inaugrated. This new building now seats the EXTC and Mechanical Engineering students. The topmost floor houses the Rev.Fr.Santino Mondini Auditorium, which was inaugrated by Fr.Santino Mondini, 94 on the felicitation ceremony of Rector Major Fr.Pascal Chavez, on his visit to India, on February 8th 2007.

Festivals

The annual cultural festival of the college is called as "CreXtal" which stands for Creativity EXcellence and Talent. The inter-college technical festival organized by the college is called "Colosseum".

There are many scholarships awarded to meritious students.
You can get the entire list from college.
There are scholarships for which you can apply from outside also.
My work wont be complete without giving an example.
Tata Scholarship is a very nice one available for all semester students. They return your entire fees so its worth going for.
