Maharashtra SSC Exam Dates

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Friday announced the dates for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations to be conducted from February 2008. While the HSC written examinations begin on February 28, the SSC written examinations begin on March 11. Detailed timetables and notices for the exams will be sent to all recognised schools and junior colleges.

The HSC examination will begin with the practicals, oral examinations and grade examinations from February 11-26. The written papers are scheduled from February 28 to March 28.

In case of the SSC examinations, the practicals, oral examinations and grade papers will be held between February 25 and March 8. The written examinations will be held from March 11-31. Students opting for technical and pre-vocational subjects will have to appear for their practical examinations from April 2-10.

The duration of the examinations will be the same for both the old and new paper patterns, but the timetables will be issued separately. The March 2008 exam will be the last chance for repeater candidates appearing for the SSC and HSC exams as per the old paper pattern.

For the subjects of English (third language) and Mathematics, a multiple question paper set will be given, with a 30 per cent difference between the textbook-based questions of each set.

Repeater candidates appearing for science and social studies will be evaluated according to the new paper pattern out of 100 marks instead of the earlier 150 marks. However, in the results, their marks will be calculated as of 150 marks, as was the practice in the previous year.
