Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (For candidates who have passed Class XII in 2008) Last Date Extended to 31st Jan. 2009
(Most probably because they didn't get the required number of students.)
Previous Last Date was 31 st December 2008.
And one more last date before that was 31 st November 2008.
This news has brought in a mixed response from students.
I personally feel its a very good opportunity for students who missed out previously. And extension of dates means there are chances of getting a scholarship.
But for those who have already submitted their application forms(before and around Nov), they have been waiting so longfor the merit list to be displayed. And this extension of date is only going to add to their wait time.
Students waiting for results can't do anything but wait. But others should take the opportunity with both hands and submit the application as early as possible.

Acceptance of Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship, How do we know that we are selected.
Posted by Anuj Kothari at 3:25 PMThere are a lot of questions around that :
How do we know that we have been selected for the scholarship? For answers of all these questions you shall have to wait for some time as the process for selection of students is a bit long. Also the date for 'Last Date Of Submission Of Application Form' has been extended further (Click here to know more about new dates). Obviously any progress til that date is not possible.
When do we start receiving or scholarship amount?
Show do we get our Scholarship money?
So students will have to just wait and watch what happens. For how money will be given to you, read further.
Scholarship will be paid to the selected students directly by the Central Government through a Bank Account opened by them for the purpose in a designated Bank. Based on the eligibility certificate presented by the awardees, the designate bank(s) shall open account for all such merit scholars and ensure timely credit and maintain a proper database of the account numbers of the
students receiving the scholarship. Where the branch of the bank is not available, the bank will issue co-branded ATM cards to the awardees, so that they can draw scholarship from any ATM without any charges. This will include flexibility of withdrawal of scholarship by the awardees through ATM of all nationalized banks, and its subsidiaries. The payment of scholarship will start from the month the admission is obtained.
