Infrastructure and Facilities

Library: Symbiosis Law School has a well equipped library armed with the collection of the latest books in all realms of law, social sciences and management. It also boasts of a wide collection of journals, periodicals, magazines and reports including the U.S Supreme Court Reports and many more are being added periodically. The annual sanctioned budget of the library is approximately 10 million rupees.

Technological Facilities: Two computer laboratories house 70 computers with an internet facilities and access to online databases like Manupatra, Lexis-Nexis and West-Law, Hein Online and off-line databases like, Supreme Court Cases-Full Text, AIR Supreme Court Cases etc. The Symbiosis Law School is a Wi-Fi campus.

Class Rooms and other Amenities: Well furnished and environment friendly LCD/OHP/fitted class rooms are available in the campus. The Law School has ultra modern air-conditioned auditorium for Seminars, Workshops, Guest Lectures and other on-campus events. The SLS campus houses a multi-cuisine mess and a food court catering to the needs and tastes of cosmopolitan student community.

Health Care and Fitness: The institution provides the opportunity of the physical and mental development of the students through the Symbiosis Centre for Health Care (SCHC) where they could avail the facility of yoga and gymnasium. It also provides Insurance Scheme to all the students.

Overview

Introduction
Symbiosis Institute of Design was started in 2004, when management of Symbiosis realized the market need to start a design institute to offer Undergraduate courses in various disciplines of design. This requirement was primarily driven by the booming market scenario and the fact there was no design institute operating from this part of the country. Now it has come under the ambit of Symbiosis International University w.e.f. 10th November, 2006.

Vision
To foster a creative environment and emphasize the social, emotional, physical, intellectual development of a designer in everyone to excel the quality of life.

Mission
To craft an ambience to promote confident possession of an individual’s innate talents, acquire the skills needed for being successful on the design dais and establish values that will enable him to act with thoughtfulness and humanity.

Infrastructure

Campus

The new campus of Symbiosis Institute of Design at Viman Nagar houses state of the art design studios, laboratories, workshops, IT infrastructure, class rooms, library, exhibition areas, seminar hall, which will be ready to take on real life challenges. The campus also has ultra-modern auditorium and academic plaza for various activities including design shows.

Library

Having more than 3000 books related to designing, graphics, advertising, film and video, animation, furniture, architecture, textile, pattern making, visual merchandising, illustration, jewellery etc. and more than 40 periodicals related to computer, photography, fashion and general, as well as CDs on different subjects.

Laboratory

Two well equipped model making (Metal & Non-Metal) Workshops, Computer Labs, Material Library, Animation Studio, Photography Lab, Printing Lab, Video Lab, Garment Manufacturing Lab, Pattern Making Lab and other Fashion design Labs.

Health Care

The Health Care Centre, run by SIHS (Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences) is located on the campus and provides first level medical attention and can arrange for expert attention and consultants as required. Every student is insured under the Mediclaim & Road Traffic Accident Policy. Under this policy, in the event of hospitalization, students need not be under the pressure of paying on the spot. The details and benefits of the policy are available with SIHS.

SIHS is the in-house Health Care Centre of Symbiosis and it sees to the health care needs of the entire Symbiosis family. It is concerned with the preventive as well as curative health of every individual under the Symbiosis banner, be it the student or the employee. It has an ultra modern Fitness Club & provides supervised training in Gym, Aerobics, Yoga, Pranayam & Meditation techniques to all the members of the Symbiosis Society.

Well equipped modern Auditorium and academic plaza for various activities including design shows is taking shape in our campus.

Hostel ( boys / girls)

Institute has hostel for boys and girls which is 2 kms away from the campus which is available on shared basis. Amenities like TV and refrigerator are provided in the hostel.

Lab
SICSR has truly world class, state-of-the-art computer lab which includes powerful servers, dedicated internet and email access, desktops PCs and laser / DeskJet / dot-matrix printers etc. All the machines are connected to a 10/100 MBPS network, which in turn is connected to Gigabit Ethernet. For the Internet, there is 24x7 connectivity through 2 leased lines with 512 KBPS each. The labs are equipped with firewall and content filtering tools with latest Antivirus Gateway level Scanning.

Library
The main objective is to provide innovative, responsive and effective services, which will meet the changing needs of the academic community. Our library provides a range of books, periodicals, e-resources and other media at appropriate levels for the need of the students.

Teaching Aids and Pedagogy
SICSR’s approach to teaching includes a combination of lectures, class discussion, group work and self-study. The faculty present key subjects in lectures and conduct class discussions based on case studies.

Health and Medical care and Gym
The Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) provides an in house, modern, state of art health club & fitness centre with a view to facilitate a holistic development of mind & body for an all round development of our students. Bachelor of Business Administration (Information Technology)

A Three-year full time undergraduate degree programme

BBA (IT) offers an opportunity for an early entry into management cadre, equipped with IT knowledge, to be trained appropriately by the companies for their requirements. These students can also opt for higher studies here or abroad in management field.

Eligibility

Student passing XII from any faculty or equivalent diploma in Engineering/Technology, with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC / ST category candidates)

Bachelor of Computer Applications

A three-year full time undergraduate degree programme

BCA offers the pre qualification for professionals heading for smart career in the IT field, which measures up to international standards. On completing this course one can do higher studies such as MCA, MBA etc., in any UGC recognized universities or in any other reputed institution in India or abroad.

Eligibility

XII pass from Science faculty OR government diploma in Engineering and Technology with minimum 50% marks. (45% for SC / ST category candidates)

SNAP Test for Symbiosis Postgraduate Programmes


Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission processes of postgraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University [SIU] established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 vide notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Govt. of India. Subsequently ten more Institutes of Symbiosis have been brought under the ambit of Symbiosis International University vide notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A).

It is a mandatory written test for admission into any postgraduate programme offered by these institutes. However, it is only the first step. In addition, a candidate has to undergo the selection process of the desired institute to qualify for the admission to the postgraduate programmes of that institute. A student aspiring to do higher studies at SIU needs to do the following:


Stage-1: SNAP Test

* Register online at www.snaptest.org
* Follow the instructions for payment of Test fee of Rs. 1000/- on this website.
* Any changes in the online application form may be made only till the closing date of Registration. No change in any data of any categories is allowed after the closing date of Registration under any circumstances.
* All disputes between candidate and the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be subject to exclusive jurisdiction of Pune city and Pune courts only.
* On closing of payment, print “Admit Card” from the website.
* Paste candidate’s photograph on the Admit Card.
* It is mandatory for all candidates to bring the Admit card on which photograph is pasted along with a photo identity to the Test Centre and get the same authenticated from the authorized officials of Symbiosis Test Secretariat.
* Please note that there is no provision for printing the Admit card at the Test Centre.
* Candidates shall preserve the Admit card till the further selection process of the desired institute such as Group Discussion and Personal Interview, is over. Candidate should note that he will not be allowed to appear for group Discussion and personal interview without Admit card.
* If the Admit card is lost, then please note that no request for reissue of Admit card will be entertained and the candidate will lose the chance to appear for further selection process of the desired institute such as Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
* Appear for the Test.
* SNAP Score will remain valid for admission to all Post Graduate Programmes of Symbiosis International University by different Institutes for the academic year 2009-2010.



Stage-2: Submit Application form to the desired SIU’s constituent institutes.

*Purchase a prospectus & application form as per a chosen institute’s instructions given on its website.
*The SNAP website allows a facility for online purchase of prospectus & application form for many of these institutes along with online payment of SNAP fee. Online sale of prospectus will continue up to January 9th 2009 even after the closure of SNAP payment.
*Complete the application procedure of the desired institute.
*You can apply to more than one SIU’s constituent institutes.



Stage-3: Attend the call for further selection process of the chosen institutes.

*Each institute has its own weightages for arriving at a cutoff, depending on its focused field as mentioned in the prospectus of each constituent institute. For example, One Institute may have lower weightage for Quantitative Section while some other Institute may have a higher weightage for the same section.
*The institutes will announce a short list for attending further selection process.
*The individual institutes as per their schedules will announce Short List & Waiting Lists.
*For details of selection process and schedules please refer to the prospectus of respective institutes.

Important

* Mere scoring in the SNAP Test does not entitle any right to the candidate to be called for further selection process [i.e. group discussion, personal interview] of admission to any Symbiosis Institute.
* While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading the answer sheet by the scanning machine, there is no provision of revaluation of the answer sheet of any candidate.
* The scores published by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be final and shall not be subject to any appeal or revaluation.
* The SNAP Score card will be available on the website for a period of one month from the date of declaration of results. A candidate may take a print-out of the result.
* Those candidates paying through cash or DD, should ensure that the following should reach Symbiosis Test Secretariat by the closing date of Payment.

o Axis Bank Challan for cash payment should be printed online, or
o Demand Drafts and Payment Advice Form for DD payment;
o Demand draft for Rs. 1000/- may be drawn from any nationalised bank and should be in favour of “Symbiosis Test Secretariat”.

* Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be held responsible for non-delivery or any delay on the part of Courier / Postal Services.

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test SNAP 2008 Guidelines

01. Reach the Test Centre latest by 1:00 p.m. The test procedure will start at 1:30 p.m. Candidates reaching after 2:00 p.m. will not be admitted.

02. Bring the following to the Test Centre:

  • Admit Card : Without which you will not be allowed to take the test.
  • Photo identity : Any one of the Following:
  1. Passport
  2. Driving license
  3. College/Institute identity card
  4. Credit card with photograph
  5. PAN Card
  • Blue/Black ballpoint pen

03. Cell phones, calculators, watch calculators, alarm clocks, digital watches with built in calculators/ memory etc. will not be allowed in the examination hall.

04. Occupy the seat allotted to you by verifying the SNAP ID written on the desk and indicated in your Admit Card.

05. The Test Invigilator will check your Admit Card.

06. The Test booklet will be distributed just before the starting time of the Test. When you get the test booklet, make sure that the booklet is in sealed condition. If the seal is found broken or tampered with, please bring this matter immediately to the notice of the invigilator.

07. At 2:00 p.m. the Test Invigilator will instruct you to open the seals of the test booklet and commence answering the test.

08. Check immediately that all the pages of the booklet are in order. In the rare event of the Test Booklet being defective, bring it to the notice of the invigilator immediately who will arrange for the replacement of test booklet if required.

09. You will get two hours from 2:00p.m. To 4:00 p.m. to answer the questions. Though the test will have several sections, you are free to work on the sections in any order.

10. You are not allowed to leave the Hall till the test is over and until the Invigilator collects the answer sheets at 4:00 pm. You will be allowed to leave the hall only after the answer sheets of all the candidates in your hall have been collected and accounted for.

11. If the Admit card is lost, then please note that no request for reissue of Admit card will be entertained and the candidate will lose the chance to appear for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

12. It is mandatory for all the candidates to bring the Admit Card on which photograph is pasted along with a Photo Identity to the Test Centre and get the same authenticated from the authorized officials of Symbiosis Test Secretariat.

13. Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further selection processes of individual Institutes.

Application Procedure - How To Register For SNAP 2008

Step 1.
Register for SNAP Test at www.snaptest.org. This will generate your SNAP ID. For different modes of payment different ‘Payment Advice’ formats are created. Choose a payment mode and print a ‘Payment Advice’ form online.

Step 2.

Fee of appearing in the entrance examination conducted by Symbiosis Test Secretariat is Rs. 1000/-. Please note that this fees is non refundable and no claims for refund will be entertained on any account whatsoever.

Payment of SNAP fee can be made in either of the following mode.
  • Cash
    • You may pay cash only at an Axis Bank branch. Print ‘Axis Bank Challan’ which is in 3 parts. Pay Rs. 1000/- in cash at any Axis Bank branch in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank will return two stamped parts of the ‘Axis Bank Challan’ to you. The ‘Student copy’ is your receipt.
    • Candidates should send the cash deposit challan [Symbiosis Copy]

  • Demand Draft

    • Get a demand draft for Rs. 1000/- from any Nationalized Bank in favour of “Symbiosis Test Secretariat” payable at Pune.

    • Candidates desiring to pay the fees by Demand Draft should send the demand draft and payment advice form to:

  • ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH CREDIT CARD


    • You may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online. Follow the instructions on the website.


    • The SNAP website [www.snap-test.org] has the facility for online purchase of prospectus and application form for some institutes under Symbiosis International University.


    • Online sale of prospectus will continue only up to January 9th 2009.
      Thereafter the candidates are requested to contact the Institute directly. Prospectus may be purchased online for the following institutes.

    • All Institutes of SIU will make the best efforts to send prospectus at the earliest possible time.

    • In the case of candidates do not receive the prospectus by January 20, 2009 candidates are advised to contact respective institute for which prospectus are purchased along with proof of payment.

    • Institute will not be held responsible for non delivery or any delay on the part of courier / postal services.

    • Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be held responsible for any non delivery or any delay on the part of courier / postal services

    • All Institutes will make best efforts to send prospectus at the earliest possible time. Candidates are advised to contact respective institutes for which prospectus are purchased. Step 3.

Admit Card will be available online from 7th December till 21st December 2008 online. It should be printed from the website. Ensure the following.

  1. Print the Admit Card online
  2. Paste your own photograph on the printed Admit Card.
  3. Bring the Admit card with the pasted photograph to the Test Center in addition to a photo-identity card. An acceptable photo identity is any one of
    • Passport
    • Driving license
    • College / Institute identity card,
    • Credit card with photograph.
    • PAN Card
  4. At the time of the written test, it is mandatory to produce the photo identity as described here. Symbiosis Authorized Person will verify and authenticate your Admit Card against the photo-id.
  5. Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further selection processes of individual Institutes

Important

At the time of filling online application form or while appearing for SNAP test, any attempt to impersonate or indulge in any other malpractice would automatically disqualify the candidate from admission processes of all post-Graduate Institutes of Symbiosis International University and make the student liable to legal prosecution as per the laws of country.

SNAP Test is an objective test. Each question has 4 responses. Candidate should choose an appropriate response. Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.
