Overview

The Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) was formed in 1988 as a network of management schools in the country at the National Conference of the Heads of Management Education Institutions on "National Education Policy and its Implications for Management Education in the Country" held at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore in April 1988

AIMS has since grown into a powerful body for management schools in the country with a membership of about four hundred Institutes. AIMS is the second largest network of management schools in the world.

Mission
The Mission of AIMS is to function as the professional association of management education concerned with quality of management, manpower training and development, management research, curriculum development and take all such steps on its own or in collaboration with other agencies for the promotion of Management Education in India.

Collaborations

AIMS has a long standing collaboration with Canadian Consortium of Management Schools (CCMS) on Management Education with funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). A number of joint activities such as Case Development Workshops, Research Workshops, etc., are being carried out under this project.

The Government of Punjab today, signed a tripartite agreement with Indian School of Business (ISB) and four Indian Business Leaders to set up a second ISB campus at Knowledge City, Mohali. The Agreement was signed in the presence of Punjab’s Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal by Anjali Bhawra - Secretary, Higher Education, Government of Punjab, Rajat Gupta -Chairman, ISB, and four Founder Supporters of the ISB campus at Mohali, Analjit Singh - Chairman & Managing Director of Max India Limited, Rakesh Bharti Mittal - Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of Bharti Enterprises Limited, Sunil Kant Munjal - Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Hero Corporate Service Limited, Atul Punj - Chairman, Punj Lloyd Group.

The 70 acres ISB campus site at Mohali has been allotted by the Government of Punjab on a 99 years lease at Rs. 1 per acre annually, as a part of its vision to establish a world class premier management institute at Knowledge City, Mohali. Based on an invitation by the Government, the four Indian Business Leaders along with ISB submitted their Expression of Interest to set up a second campus of ISB at Mohali, along with their intent to make a significant financial contribution for establishing the Campus. The first academic session at the ISB campus in Mohali is expected to commence in 2012.

The ISB, with the support of existing associate schools, Wharton School and Kellogg School of Management, will set-up and run the Mohali campus, just like its Hyderabad campus, as a world class academic institution for providing Post Graduate Programmes in Management and short duration Executive Education Programmes. The ISB campus at Mohali will have the following four specialist Institutes, termed as Centres of Excellence, for promoting research and offering additional specialisations in the Post Graduate Programme:

– BML Munjal Institute of Manufacturing and Operation Excellence

– Punj Lloyd Institute of Physical Infrastructure Management

The ISB campus at Mohali proposes to have 280 seats in its Post Graduate Programme. It will also have several short duration Executive Education Programmes where approximately 750 professionals will be able to participate.

ISB will have a unified governance structure, with the ISB Board as the Statutory Body overseeing and supporting both campuses at Hyderabad and Mohali. A Deputy Dean, will be appointed to run the ISB campus at Mohali, including the four Centres of Excellence. It will additionally have the benefit of a Campus Advisory Board while the Centres of Excellence will be advised by their individual Institute Advisory Councils. The ISB faculty will be available for teaching on both campuses and all standards and processes will be common across both campuses.

The Founder Supporters of the ISB campus at Mohali, who are playing a key role in setting up the Business School, will contribute a sum of Rs. 50 crores each. While they are members of the ISB Executive Board, they will also be represented on the Campus Advisory Board of ISB campus at Mohali and will Chair the respective Institute Advisory Councils. FMS MBA Entrance Exam 2009

FMS MBA entrance exam is a MBA Entrance Exam conducted by the Faculty of Management Studies. The pattern of the exam includes Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Analytical Reasoning, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension; all these are covered in about 175 questions.

FMS MBA Entrance Test Date - Sunday January 25, 2009, 2 PM

Eligibility: Candidates applying for admission to the two-year MBA & MBA (MS) programmes must have pursued at least a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree programme after 12 years of formal schooling.

The minimum requisite percentage of marks in different disciplines: Arts/Commerce or Social Sciences – 50%; Sciences – 55%; Mathematics or Statistics – 60%; Medicine, Engineering or Technology – 60% or 2nd Degree examination after 10+2+3 scheme, securing at least 60% marks.

Candidates appearing for the final examination of Bachelor’s/Post-Graduate Degree examinations may also apply.

Candidates must be at least 20 years of age as on 01.10.2009.

MAT - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When & how many times MAT is conducted in a year? Qualification & percentage needed for it.

A. Mat is usually conducted 4 times in a year in February, May, September and December. The minimum qualification for appearing in MAT is graduation in any discipline from any recognized University or equivalent recognized degree. A final year student in any undergraduate (i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech., etc) can also appear provisionally. Usually, there is a minimum percentage requirement in graduation, which is different for different MIs/University. For this refer to the prospectus of the particular MIs/University.

Q. How many Management Institutes participate in MAT. Do they keep on changing or remain the same? Is there a same admission criterion for each & every Institute? Are they recognized, by AICTE? Do they have hostel facility? What about the total fee?

A. The number of participating Management Institutes may vary. The number of MI’s keeps on changing from test to test. Admission criteria for every institute is different. All MIs participating in MAT are either AICTE approved or affiliated to some Universities, for further information you may contact the MIs/Universities of your choice. The list of various Management Institutes /Universities is available in MAT bulletin along with the admission notification. It may be worthwhile to go through the brochure of the Management Institutes for detailed information.

Q. What is the cost of the Bulletin? The DD, which is to be made, should be in whose favor?

A. At Present the cost of a MAT bulletin is Rs.750/- by cash across the AIMA, New Delhi counter/ Select UTI Bank branches/ AIMA Nodal Centres all over India and Rs.790/- against Demand Draft (DD) by post. DD should be made in favor of AIMA-CMS, payable at New Delhi.

Q. What is the validity of MAT score?

A. Validity of the MAT score is for that particular session for most Management Institutes, but for AIMA-CME’s PGDM & PGDITM programmes, the score is valid for one year. For more detail, please visit our website:- www.aima-ind.org

Q. What is the last date of submitting filled in MAT OMR Form?

A. Last date for submission is mentioned in the MAT bulletin. The last date also appears in the notification released by AIMA in various national & regional newspapers.

Q. Do applicant has to buy the prospectus of the MI’s opted by him/her?

A. For applying to MI’s it is suggested that the prospectus of the MI’s opted should be bought.

Q. Is MAT held all over the country what about a person living abroad? Can he/she apply for it?

A. MAT is conducted in all major cities in the country and in leading cities abroad. For further clarification, see MAT bulletin or contact our information centre.

Q. Do we get a separate Admit Card for appearing in MAT?

A. Candidate has to download his/her admit card from aima website 7 days before the Test Date with the registration form number. No separate admit card is mailed to candidate.

Q. Is there any age bar for it? Any Job experience required, to appear in MAT?

A. There is no age bar. Job experience is not necessary.

Q. Is appearance in MAT necessary for getting admission into PGDM/ MBA programme ?

A. Yes, MAT is necessary for admission into PGDM / equivalent programmes offered by AIMA or other MIs who participate in it.

  1. A candidate can obtain XAT Bulletin from select branches of AXIS Bank on payment of Rs. 800/- (Rupees eight hundred only)
  2. Registration for XAT 2009.The candidate has to visit the website www.xlri.edu and go to XAT Registration. Here he/she has to fill in the online XAT form. The information to be provided includes XAT Bulletin No, date, AXIS Bank branch name and personal details. After online submission the candidate will immediately get his/her XAT ID and password.
  3. Once the candidate provides the application details for XAT associate institute he/she can proceed to take printout of XAT Payment Advice cum Photo Form (XAT PP Form).
  4. The candidate has to paste his/her recent photograph and put full signature in the designated space provided on the XAT PP Form. The candidate has to enclose the third copy of the bank ( XAT) pay-in-slip along with the completed XAT PP Form in the special envelope provided in the XAT Bulletin and send it by registered post / speed post / courier within a week of obtaining the XAT Bulletin. Mention your XAT ID and name on the reverse of the Bank pay-in-slip. The last date for receiving the XAT PP Form at XAT office, XLRI Jamshedpur is December 05, 2008.

JMET 2009 - How to Apply

There are two different ways by which candidates can apply for JMET 2007, namely Online Registration and Offline Registration. Detailed information about each of these processes is given below.

1. Online Registration

Details of the Online Registration Process:
Application fee: Rs. 750 for general category and Rs. 350 for SC/ST category.
Online submission of application forms may be made by accessing the websites of IISc, Bangalore and IITs. The candidate should pay the Application Fee through an SBI ATM or through a Demand Draft in favour of "Chairman, GATE, IIT Roorkee" drawn on any nationalized bank payable at ‘Roorkee’. The candidate should submit the payment details while filling up the Online Form. Candidates are required to take a print of the Online Application Form after successful submission of data. The printed application form, with candidate’s signature and photograph at appropriate places, and the Demand Draft / original ATM transaction-slip, Attested copy of High School (Class X) Certificate as proof of age and copy of the SC/ST/Disability Certificate, if applicable must be sent ONLY to The Chairman, GATE, IIT Roorkee, Roorkee – 247 667 by Speed Post/Registered Post.

The application fee is not refundable.

2. Offline Registration

Details of the Offline Registration Process:

Application fee: Rs. 800 for general category and Rs. 400 for SC/ST category.
For sending the application by post (OFFLINE submission), JMET 2007 brochure and application form can be obtained by post from the GATE office of the zone OR in person through cash payment from the Bank (Bank details of respective IISc and IITs are given below) of the zone in which the test city, selected by the candidate, is located. The request, accompanied by two self-addressed slips and a demand draft for Rs.800/- (Rs.400/- for SC/ST categories) drawn in favour of the Institute concerned, has to be sent to the Chairman of the respective GATE office.

The application fee is not refundable.

Appearing for Joint Management Entrance Test 2007 (JMET 2007) is the first step in the process of seeking admission to the Post-Graduate Programmes in Management offered by IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee.

The IISc and participating IITs will use the results of JMET 2007 to short list candidates for the subsequent part of the selection process(es). Applicants should note that they have to apply for and send separate application forms to IISc and different IITs as per their choices. Candidates are advised to refer to Participating Institutes for brief profiles of schools/departments of management of IISc and participating IITs. An applicant can apply to as many programmes as desired by him / her subject to fulfillment of eligibility requirements.

Application/Registration Process
There are two different processes by which a candidate can apply/register for JMET 2007, namely, OFFLINE(by Post) and ONLINE(Internet based). Details of these processes are given under How-to-Apply. The registration-cum-application fee for offline applications is Rs.800/- for General candidates and Rs.400/- for SC/ST candidates. The fee for online application is Rs. 750/- for General candidates and Rs. 350/- for SC/ST candidates. The registration-cum-application fee is not refundable and the application form is not transferable.

Candidates can appear in the examination only against valid admit cards. Candidates generally receive Admit Cards by last week of November 2006. If they do not receive it by December 1, 2006, they should contact GATE Office IIT Roorkee (quoting the Application Number and Test City).

Although JMET 2007 is held at different cities all over India, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is the Organizing Institute, and has overall responsibility of conducting JMET 2007. In case of any claims or disputes arising in respect of JMET 2007 it is hereby made absolutely clear that the Courts and Tribunals in Haridwar and Haridwar alone shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to entertain and settle any such disputes or claims.
