Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM A)
Ranked amongst the top most business schools in India and Asia. The institute offers four programmes in Management. The PGP - Post Graduate Program (equivalent to MBA), the FPM - Fellowship Program in Management(equivalent to Ph.D), the FDP - Faculty Development Program for Management teachers and Trainers and the MDP - Management Development Program - a refresher for middle and top level managers. All three programs require the candidate to take CAT. The institute also offer part time PGDBM - Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management for managers with relevant work experience. In addition, MDP - Management Development Programs are held in regular intervals for middle and top level managers.

Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM B)
IIM Bangalore offers two year full time PGP - Post Graduate Program in Management (equivalent to MBA) and a FPM - Fellowship Program in Management. Both these programs require the candidate to take CAT. The institute also offers part time non residential PGSM - Post Graduate Program in Software Enterprise Management. There is a separate entrance test for this program. This business school is ranked amongst the top three business schools in the country.

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM L)
IIM Lucknow offers a two year full time residential PGP - Post Graduate Program in Management and a four year FPM program. Both these programs require a candidate to take CAT. The institute also has an interesting student exchange program where students of this B-School go to premier B-Schools the world over and do part of their education. Students and faculty from these internationally reputed B-Schools in turn visit IIM Lucknow. It is ranked amongst the top five B-Schools in India.

XLRI - Xavier Labour Research Institute, Jamshedpur
Xavier Labour Research Institute, popularly known as XLRI was established in 1949 at Jamshedpur. The institute offers two courses at the post graduation level in management - a post graduate diploma in Business administration and a post graduate diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations (PMIR). Online version of the brochure is also available. In 2001, the average salary (including foreign offers) soared by 70% (over last year) to a whopping Rs.8.06 lakhs per annum. ISB - Indian School of Business, Hyderabad
Indian School of Business, Hyderabad is emerging as a preferred choice for MBA aspirants who want to pack in the program into a one year course. As it gradually builds up its permanent faculty base, the ISB has created a unique and sustainable visiting faculty model with some of the world's leading academicians from Wharton, Kellogg, Harvard, Stanford, Chicago, Duke and Texas among others. FMS - Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi
FMS is amongst the top 10 B-Schools in the country and probably one of the two attached to a university amongst the top ten. The full time program of FMS started in 1967. The whole outgoing batch of 2002 was placed within a span of 2 days. There were 8 foreign offers including British American Tobacco (BAT), OLAM and QAI among others.

The Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIMI) is the latest addition to the IIM community. IIMI has a two-year post graduate programme emphasizing on Experiential learning, IT orientation, and Social Sensitivity. The construction of the new campus is progressing at a rapid pace and IIMI plans to operate out of the new campus from June 2003. In a move that could benefit scores of creative aspirants, the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmadabad, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with six design institutes across India to hold a common entrance exam. The examination the National Entrance Examination in Design (NEED) will be designed on the lines of competitive exams like CAT and MAT.reports the Hindustan Times

NID sources say : “The six institutes that have joined us now will be known as founder members and those who join us later will be accepted as associate members.” The current MoU includes institutes like the Pearl Academy of Fashion (Delhi), IILM School of Design (Gurgaon), Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology (Bangalore), Indian Institute of Craft and Design (Jaipur), Wigan and Leigh College (Delhi) and DJ Academy of Design (Coimbatore).

Under the initiative, participating schools will accept NEED scores and then have their individual procedures for interview/situation test/group discussions. Says A.K.G. Nair, Group Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion, "The initiative will facilitate talent mobilisation for the design sector and standardise admission procedures. This is certainly in the interest of the student community which otherwise has to prepare for various examination patterns for all design schools in the country. There is also a clash of entrance examination dates."

The alliance is also expected to bring together the experience of both government and private players in design education and generate a platform to share experiential learning in fashion and design pedagogy.

Apollo Hospitals ties up with IGNOU for skill training courses

Over 45 courses will be offered for healthcare workers at all levels

The Apollo Hospitals group entered into an agreement with Indira Gandhi National Open University to offer skill training courses for healthcare workers at all levels, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary celebrations.

Over 45 courses will be offered, across all verticals, addressing specific skills such as technicians, medical assistantship, health management and dialysis, representatives of Apollo Hospitals told presspersons on Thursday.

The courses will be provided across the online platform, onsite and distance education mode. The first course is expected to start in January and fee details are being worked out.

There is a huge shortfall of trained healthcare professionals in the country, Prathap C.Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals, said. “We need to double our doctors and nurses, and as far as paramedics go, the number has to increase at least 10 times more,” he added. The vast manpower resources that India possessed would have to be converted into valuable healthcare resources and the MoU with IGNOU was a step in that direction.

Apollo, which runs several training institutes for specialists, nurses and paramedics, will be involved in training in a big way in the future, he said, charting out the plans of the group for the next 25 years. Healthcare would become the largest employer, providing jobs not only in the country, but also globally.

V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU, said Apollo was a success story in the corporate healthcare scenario, democratising healthcare by using technology in a big way to take the most advanced techniques to the people.

He said IGNOU was also a success story in the democratisation of education, riding the technology wave to provide access to all.

Preetha Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals group, traced the evolution of the hospital from its founding day 25 years ago to its status as the largest private hospital chain in Asia.

The group’s executive director - financial, Suneeta Reddy, explained the business model and indicated the enormous potential of the Indian healthcare industry.

Shobana Kamineni, executive director, detailed the new ventures of Apollo Hospitals, including Reach Hospitals, which aims at taking super-specialty care to rural areas.

Sangita Reddy, executive director, said 3 Bs – biology, byte and bandwidth will change the way healthcare operates, while providing a perspective on Apollo Health Street, a provider of revenue cycle management solutions to the healthcare industry.

PATTERN OF IITJEE-2008

Question Papers

There will be two question papers, each of three hours duration. Both the question papers would consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Questions in these papers will be of objective type, which are to be answered on a specially designed machine-gradable sheet (ORS – Optical Response Sheet) using HB pencils only. Incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks.

Language and Font of Question Papers

Candidates can opt for Question Papers either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling the application form, and it cannot be changed at any later stage.

Visually impaired candidates will be provided with question papers with 20% enlarged font. However, to avail this facility, candidates should make a request along with the application form.

Calculators and Log Tables

Use of calculators and log tables is NOT permitted in JEE-2008.

Aptitude Test for B.Arch. and B.Des.

Candidates called for counselling and desirous of joining the B.Arch. and B.Des. courses will be required to qualify in an Aptitude Test to be conducted at each counselling institute on June 21, 2008. The test will consist of two papers, each of two hours duration – from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon, and from 2.00 pm to 4:00 pm. Candidates who fail to qualify in the Aptitude Test will not be eligible for admission to either B.Arch. or B.Des. courses. Question papers for aptitude test for B.Arch and B.Des will be in English only.

Ranking

Only those candidates who attempt both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for the ranking. Marks in Physics will be equal to marks in Physics section of Paper 1 + marks in Physics section of Paper 2. Similar procedure will be followed for Chemistry and Mathematics. Based on the cut-off marks in the individual subjects as well as the aggregate marks in the Examination, a common merit list will be prepared without any relaxed criteria. In addition, separate merit lists of candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PD categories will be prepared with different relaxed norms relevant to their categories. While preparing these merit lists, if a candidate belongs to more than one category of relaxed norms, then he/she for the purpose of ranking shall be considered in all the categories in which he/she qualifies. There will be no separate list of wait-listed candidates.

Eligibility Conditions in IIT JEE 2008

A candidate has to satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below :

* A candidate can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years.
* Candidates appearing for JEE-2008 should have either passed in 2007 or should be appearing in 2008 in the qualifying examination listed in section 7.1 and should satisfy the eligibility criteria listed in section 7.2.
* Candidates should meet the age requirements given in section 7.4.
* Candidates should not have accepted admission by paying full fees at any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU, Dhanbad, through earlier JEE.

Candidates applying from abroad (other than SAARC countries) should send a Demand Draft for Fifty US
Dollars or its equivalent.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
MD / MS / Diplomas
Candidates who have qualified for the M.B.B.S Degree of the Madras University or any other University recognised as equivalent by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and the Indian Medical Council and have completed their compulsory rotating residential internship and obtained full registration before 15/05/2009 are eligible to apply for the postgraduate diploma and degree courses.

Candidates who have qualified for a postgraduate diploma may also apply for the postgraduate degree (MS/MD) course in the same subject. Post Diploma candidates with a diploma in the same subject need to undergo 2 years of training for the degree. Note: Those who complete a DCP will not have this benefit for MD Pathology.
Candidates currently pursuing a postgraduate training programme and who complete the same by the 15th of May 2009 will be eligible to apply.

Residency in Medical Physics
MSc degree in Medical Physics or a Post-graduate diploma in Hospital Physics (Dip R.P) from BARC, Mumbai.

THE SELECTION PROCESS
The selection of candidates for postgraduate courses will be according to the directives of the CMC
Vellore Council. Fifty percent of seats in each course are reserved for sponsored candidates, provided they
fulfill other criteria for eligibility for admission. However, more than 50% of the available seats may be allotted
to sponsored candidate based on their ranking in the selection test. The wait list is based on ranking in the
selection tests. The first sponsored candidate on the waiting list will ordinarily fill vacancies arising by
sponsored candidates not accepting a seat to make up 50% reservation for sponsored candidates. In the event
that more than 50% of the seats in any course are filled by sponsored candidates and one of the sponsored
candidates does not accept the seat, it will be offered to the next candidate on the wait list by rank irrespective
of whether he or she is sponsored or open. No admissions will be made after 25th May 2009.
