Paper – 1 and Paper – 2 will each have three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Both the papers will be objective types, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

Eligibility requirements for this examination and syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Aptitude Test will be available on the websites of all IITs and will also be given in the Information Brochure of JEE – 2008.



Candidates will have the option of submitting either on – line 9through internet) or paper application form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. I passed 10+2 examination in 2007 and also qualified in JEE-2007. I took admission in one of the IITs/IT-BHU/ISM, Dhanbad by paying full fees but did not join the program. Am I eligible to write JEE-2008?

Ans: No

Q2. I passed 10+2 examination in 2007 and also qualified in JEE-2007. I appeared for counselling for JEE-2007 and was offered admission in one of the IITs/IT-BHU/ISM, Dhanbad, but did not pay full fees at the institute where I was offered admission and did not join the program. Am I eligible to write JEE-2008 and if so how shall I fill up the application form?

Ans: Yes, you are eligible. You should darken the box corresponding to NO in section 4 of the application form, entitled, HAVE YOU JOINED ANY IIT, IT-BHU, ISM.

Q3. I passed 10+2 examination in 2007 with 50% marks. I took JEE-2007 and did not qualify. I will be appearing for a re-examination in the year 2008 so that I can improve the percentage of aggregate marks to 60% or more. Am I eligible to write JEE-2008 and if so how shall I fill up the application form?

Ans: Yes you are eligible. You should darken the box corresponding to 2008 in section 13 of the application form entitled, YEAR OF QUALIFYING EXAMINATION 10+2 OR EQUIVALENT and leave entry to section 14 of the application form, entitled, PERCENTAGE OF MARKS IN 10+2 OR EQUIVALENT blank.

You should darken the box corresponding to the year 2007 in section 13 of the application form, entitled, YEAR OF QUALIFYING EXAMINATION 10+2 OR EQUIVALENT and enter the percentage of marks that you obtained in the year 2007 in the section 14, entitled, PERCENTAGE OF MARKS IN 10+2 OR EQUIVALENT.

Q13. My qualifying examination was conducted in 2006, and the results were announced in 2007. I did not attempt JEE-2006 and JEE 2007. Am I eligible to write JEE-2008 and if so, how shall I fill up the application form?

Q14. I passed 10+2 exam in 2007 and wrote JEE 2007. I was admitted to the Preparatory Course of an IIT/IT-BHU/ISM in July 2007 and am due to appear in the Preparatory Exams in 2008. I wish to appear for JEE 2008. Am I eligible?

Ans: Yes, you are eligible to appear. You must mark "Yes" in the box in section 2 of the application form against the question "Are you undergoing Preparatory Course at IITs, IT-BHU, ISMU" and mark year of qualifying exam in section 13 as 2007. However, it may be noted that you will not be eligible to undergo the Preparatory course at any of the above Institutes on the basis of JEE-2008.

Q15. I fall under NRI/PIO/OCI/ foreign national. Does JEE give me any special treatment for admission?

Ans: All candidates must first qualify in the JEE. The seats allotted to PIO/OCI/Foreign nationals will be treated as supernumerary.

Q16. I am listed in the extended merit list. What does this mean?

Ans: Extended merit list is drawn up after making some relaxation in aggregate marks and is used by other institutions for admission to their programs. Please visit IIT web sites for knowing the names of the institutions which will be using this merit list. Candidates in the extended merit list are not qualified for admission to IIT’s, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISMU Dhanbad

Q17. I will be appearing in the qualifying examination in 2008 but my board normally declares the results only October of each year. Can I appear in JEE 2008?

Ans: You are advised to appear in JEE 2009 since if you qualify JEE, you will not be able to meet the admission requirements by the last date ie 30th September 2008.

JEE 2008 Online Application Process

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

IMPORTANT

ON-LINE applications can be submitted only till 5.00 pm of 28th December, 2007 You are advised to go through the particulars available on the JEE 2008 website. JEE 2008 brochure can be downloaded from the website to understand the various eligibility conditions for JEE 2008 and guidelines for filling in application form. Make sure that a good quality printer is connected to the computer from where you are submitting the Online application form.

Following steps are required to complete the JEE 2008 Online Application Process
1. Payment Modality and Relevant Details
In order to fill in the Online application, payment has to be made apriori.
Application fee is Rs. 500/- for SC/ST and Female Candidates, and Rs. 1000/- for all other candidates
The Application fee is not refundable
Data for Online Application should be submitted by clicking the link given at the end. Printout of the application form for onward transmission to JEE Office cannot be obtained otherwise.
You must make a payment of the Online application fee (Demand Draft) and keep the payment particulars ready before submitting the Online application form.
Payment is only possible through Demand Draft:

• Payment through Demand Draft made in favour of 'CHAIRMAN JEE' on any nationalized bank payable at the corresponding city of IIT whose website has been used for the filling of on-line application form. The draft number, bank drawn on, draft date and amount must be entered during Online submission of the Application Form.

2. Filling-up the ONLINE application form
Fill up the online application form carefully. After submission of all the details, preview the form. If you are not satisfied, then use edit button and revise/modify the Online application form entries. After you are satisfied that all the entries are correct, click on the submit button.
3. Print the online application form
After the particulars are submitted, a print version of the application form is generated. The form will have the application number and the barcode for the application number. Please note down the application number generated below the barcode. Take print on a good quality A4 size paper by clicking the print button.
4. Photograph and Signature
On the PRINTED application form mentioned in Step 3 above, paste a 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm recent good quality non-attested colour photo of yourself with a good adhesive in the space provided (You may keep an identical photograph in reserve for future need). Please write your name and application number on the back of photo before affixing. The candidate and his/her parent/guardian should affix their signature in the boxes provided. Signature in CAPITAL letters or initials are not acceptable. Keep photocopy of the application form and demand draft.

ENCLOSURES
Candidates are required to enclose the following document(s) with the completed application.
1. DEMAND DRAFT.
2. DATE OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE
Enclose a freshly attested copy of your High School (Class X) Certificate bearing your date of birth as proof of age or else submit other authentic certificate for the same.
Despatch of Application Form
The completed and printed Online JEE 2008 Application Form and the Enclosures mentioned above (see also the check list below) must be placed inside an envelope. Do not staple the enclosures to the Application Form. Fold the Application Form only once in the middle. On the right hand top corner of the envelope please write: JEE 2008 and the Application Number. The completed application form, along with the demand draft and High School Certificate as a proof of age, should be sent to the Chairman JEE of the IIT whose website has been used for filling the on-line application form, by speed post/registered post only. The contact phone numbers and addresses of respective Chairman JEE are available in the brochure.

All applications, must reach the respective IIT whose website has been used for filling the on-line application form on or before December 28, 2007.
Check List:

• Duly filled in JEE 2008 Application Form
• Demand Draft.
• A freshly attested copy of High School (Class X) Certificate as proof of age.
• You have retained a photocopy of the printed application form and demand draft.

Please keep in mind that mailing the printed Online Application Form, with the enclosures completes the ONLINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE. Your application must be received in the respective JEE office by January 04, 2008. JEE office will not be responsible for delayed/no delivery.
