The CBSE is surprisingly oblivious of a mechanism for re-evaluation of answer sheets as revealed by its response to an RTI application, an RTI activist has claimed. The activist had sought information from CBSE on the number of students seeking re-evaluation of their answer sheets and how many had benefited. But the application got a response from CBSE that "no revaluation" of the answer scripts of the Board examinations is allowed as per rule. What CBSE was doing was only the re-checking and verification of marks, the Board said. The CBSE response was in contrast to a recent judgement pertaining to disclosure of answer sheets in which the Central Information Commission (CIC) had clearly stated that "Every University and Board has a mechanism for re-evaluation which can be made use of by those who have genuine apprehensions about the fairness of the system", the activist claimed.
