SC scraps CET for TN colleges

The Supreme Court has ruled on Thursday that professional colleges in Tamil Nadu can go ahead and admit students on the basis of their 12th standard marks. The Common Entrance Test has been scrapped for this year. The Tamil Nadu government had set up an experts committee to look into the issue of admitting students with both the 12th standard marks and the entrance examination. The government advised scrapping the CET to help rural students who do not have access to coaching classes to prepare for the entrance exams.
