| 6. | Photograph : Firmly affix two recent high contrast passport size preferably black & white photograph (taken on or after 1.9.2007) with gum/fevicol (not to be pinned or stapled) in the space provided for it in the Application Form one duly attested by the head of the institution where the candidate is studying/passed class XII or the Gazatted officer. The photograph must indicate clearly the name of the candidate along with the date of taking the photograph. It should be without cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed. Polaroid photos are not acceptable. The photograph of the candidate should be attested by the Principal/Head of the Institution or Gazetted Officer in such a way that part of the signature is on the photograph and remaining part of the signature is on the application form. Attestation should be done on the bottom part of the photograph so that the photograph is not defaced. Candidates not complying with these instructions or with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected. | 8. | Date of Birth : Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1983 are eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PH candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1978 are eligible. Professional colleges in Karnataka State which offers Medical, Dental and Engineering Education are affiliated to the state run Universities, admit students through Karnataka CET every year.
There are three kinds of seats (Free seats, payment and management quota seats) available in the various colleges. The fee structure differs every year.
Only Karnataka students are allowed for CET for the academic year rest can opt for COMEDK exam this test conducted parallel to CET-Karnataka by the private Medical, Dental and Engineering College Association
Common Entrance Test (CET) is the test conducted by the state Govt. to admit students to medical, dental and engineering courses in Karnataka.
Who can Apply?
A candidate who has passed the second year Pre-University or 12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study and obtained at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology group is eligible for Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses (40% in case of SC/ST/ Category-1 candidates.) ; provided that for Dental course, the candidate must also have secured 50% of marks in the English language. (40% in case of SC/ST/Category-1 candidates.) Further, the candidates seeking admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses, should have completed the age of seventeen years as on 31st December of 2007Jaipur: Clarifying the controversy over conducting of engineering exams for the students who are enrolled in the Rajasthan University, Vice Chancellor N.K. Jain assured today that exams for enrolled students would be conducted by the Rajasthan University.
The issue of conducting engineering exams for the students who were enrolled in the Rajasthan University was caught in controversy again as a local newspaper published a senior administration official as saying, "We don't have any staff and infrastructure now. How are we supposed to conduct exams? We will provide affiliation fees to the RTU. RTU should conduct engineering exams for engineering students as it is doing for the medical students now."
When the Rajasthan Technical University was set up two years before, the Rajasthan government has issued clear instructions that RTU would conduct the examination only for the students who will be admitted from the new academic year. Responsibility to conduct exams for the students who were already enrolled would lie with the Rajasthan University.
Chennai: As many as 33 private engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu have been ordered to be closed down for collecting high tuition fees from students, education minister K. Ponmudi said here on Saturday.
However, the government plans to set up 20 new engineering colleges.
It has written to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) recommending it to de-affiliate 33 engineering colleges and to take action against them.
"We have written to the AICTE to take action against these colleges for collecting fees more than the amount fixed by the government, Ponmudi said.
The government is also planning a Common University Act to "streamline the functioning of institutions," he added.
The 20 new engineering colleges planned will be under the new Act.
These colleges "will fulfil the long-felt need for an engineering college in each district of Tamil Nadu," Ponmudi said. IANS
The Government has proposed to set up 20 new Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) in the country during the 11th Five Year Plan.
As advised by the Planning Commission, a Task Force has been constituted to deliberate on the setting up of new IIITs in a Public-Private Partnership mode. The Task Force is yet to submit its Report.
Details regarding places, time schedule, location etc. will be finalized after getting "in principle" approval of the Planning Commission.
At present, there are four IIITs set up by the Government of India and operating in the Country. These institutes are: - Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad; Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management, Gwalior; Pandit Dwarka Prasad Mishra Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing, Jabalpur and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing, Kancheepuram, An extension Centre of IIIT Allahabad has also been set up at Amethi
